Cibumarium

Cibumarium is a final degree project part of a group analysis of the future vision for the waterfront of Barcelona.

Located on the old river Llobregat, the Cibumarium project is a nutritional research unit of extensive and intensive agriculture based on the principles of polyculture, providing healthy food to the city.

It allows visitors to access the facilities and learn about the process and ways of advanced cultivation. The productive natural environment contributes at the city level as a green lung and at the level of local users as a recreational area.

The concept of the main building is a main macrostructure tensiled bamboo with a system of steel rods and cables. The whole structure is covered with a triple layer of ETFE sheets that create a controlled interior environment, thermal and solar. Distributed within this area are modules composed of pillars of bamboo canes and laminated bamboo sheets enclosed with methacrylate glazing. These contain processing facilities, laboratories, housing, offices and public areas with a cafeteria.
