For the Superilla Pilot, Philip worked on coordinating the implementation of the project Inaugural concept development, planning, production, coordination of universities for the initial construction for the ephemeral infrastructure and coordinating the activities that took place during the inaugural period including organizing the first participatory meetings with local residents.
The Barcelona Superblock pilot is a an urban intervention in the neighbourhood of Poblenou consisting in rethinking the use of public space. It is an urban cell that provides the basis for the new functional model of Barcelona. The superblock transforms the traditional concept of streets that gave priority to cars into open spaces for multiple recreation and citizen activities, it adapts itself to the characteristics of any urban fabric without compromising the functionality of the urban system while integrating all urban networks. It responds to topics such as urban density, greenhouse gases, green spaces, slow movement.
The initial project consisted of a workshop to build infrastructure for four new squares with the four pillar themes, Art – Leisure – Exchange – Democracy.
